The Best Time to Get Your Holiday Medical Aesthetic Treatments
It’s holiday time again! So, when is the right time to get your treatments done? Let’s break it down. From downtime to expectations, it’s important to think about scheduling your treatments in the right time frame so you look your best and most festive during this time of year!
Why timing matters
No matter what time of year, certain procedures carry a short to lengthy downtime. It’s especially important when you’re scheduling around family gatherings, friend parties, and travel plans.
Botox/Dysport/Neuromodulators
Botox and Dysport results are best at 2 weeks. This timeframe ensures that the toxin is completely settled into the muscles. Remember too, there’s always a chance of bruising with Botox or Dysport. So, keep that in mind if you have a big event in 1-2 days after the treatment.
Dermal Filler – Lips & Smoker’s Lines
Dermal filler in lips LOVES to bruise and swell. And this happens more so in the lips than any other area of the face. Most of the swelling is day 1-3. But YOU might notice some residual swelling up to 4 weeks after getting your lips done. Now, some people love the swelling and are okay just putting some lipstick on to cover bruises after 24 hours. But I recommend not doing your lip filler any sooner than 2-3 weeks before a big event.
Dermal Filler – Cheek/Chin/Temples/Smile Lines/Jawline
Dermal filler in these areas tends to bruise and swell less than the lips. However, they can! So, ideally 2-3 weeks prior to any event. But keep in mind, you can wear makeup after 4-6 hours.
Skin Treatments – Microneedling/Microneedling + Radiofrequency/Light CO2 Laser
Typically, these treatments only carry about 2-5 days of light redness and some feelings of dryness. You can apply makeup after 24 hours to cover the redness of the skin.
Another consideration is that it takes up to 3-4 months to see full results from this treatment. All procedures that help boost collagen/elastin production take time to have their true results.
And yet another consideration is that fall/winter is a great time to do these procedures. One, because you have to stay out of the sun before and after, and this is easier in the fall and winter. Two, temps are usually cooler and make the downtime a little more tolerable.
HydraFacial/Facials/Dermaplaning
Hydrafacials and any facials are great even up to the day before a big gathering or festive event! These treatments will increase moisture in the skin and give a beautiful glow.
